Marketing and Advertising

Correct marketing and advertising draws the right kind of attention to your business product, or service and with it, the potential of your business being the preferred option of the would-be customer.

Promoting your company can be an expensive exercise, not to say time consuming. Even so, we would probably agree it is an essential one. Essential because your competitors are always seeking new ways and ideas in which to promote their business and raise their customer and client base.

To bridge your marketing and advertising needs, you have several choices at your disposal. You could attempt to market your own company in ways and areas in which you personally feel comfortable, employ a team of professional individuals, each talented in a specific field of expertise, or you could work with a professional marketing company. The benefit of the latter, is that the marketing company can absorb a great deal of the strain that creative thinking, planning and production can place on a company's shoulders during a time of promotion. It can also be a cheaper alternative to the second choice, as the company is not financially tied to the business, other than at the times of required use.

Presbury and Company offers a wide range of marketing and promotion solutions. We are one of the few local marketing companies that owns our own Internet Service Providers. Bigwig.net ISP was founded 4 years ago and Presbury.com ISP has been launched this year.

Dan & Dave Explain - Email Part 1

E-mail has to be one of the greatest methods of communication available to us today. It's a quick and versatile way of sending information and computer files.

E-mail can be anything from a quick note, to a massive file with an attachment, but before an e-mail can be sent, a destination address needs to be specified. There are normally at least two address input lines. They are “To” and “Cc”. “To” is the line that contains the main recipient’s address. “Cc” however, means “ Carbon copy” and allows you to specify a second recipient to receive a copy of the same e-mail. Addresses entered into the “To” and “Cc” lines are visible to everyone who receives a copy of the mail. Some e-mail software also includes a “Bcc” line. “Bcc” means “Blind Carbon copy”. Any addresses input into this box will also receive a copy of the mail, but their address will not be visible to any other recipient.

Unlike telephone calls, e-mail is not sent directly to the recipient’s computer. First your mail is sent to your mail server, which then decides where to send it on from there. To do this, the server reads the e-mail address and finds the “domain” to which the mail is being sent. This is found after the “@” in an e-mail address. For instance, “sales@presbury.com” is found in the domain “presbury.com”. Your mail server then passes the mail on to the server holding that “domain”. Your server will do the same to every address you specified in the “To”, “Cc” and “Bcc” lines when you sent the mail. The mail may be sent directly to the right server, or via a number of other servers. The more servers, the longer it will take to arrive.

When your recipient’s server recognises that it has the “domain” in question, it then reads the first part of the address, to decide which mail box within that “domain” to send it to. Next time your recipient collects their mail, your message will be sent to their PC from their mail box.

Client Spotlight - Oakham Oriental Rugs

Oakham Oriental Rugs asked us to design a brochure to enhance their company profile. The brochure contains a montage of images taken from different angles of the shop and also features many of the rugs sold by the company. The front page is of a simplistic design and incorporates both images and text, to catch the attention of any prospective customers. Inside the brochure is the main text, which explains about the company and pricing policy.

The inside fold, features two images of the shop in a wider shot and also shows the shop's opening times. The rear of the brochure has maps of how to reach the shop and the address and telephone/fax number.

Fiona Hawker of Oakham Oriental Rugs said ,“We were very, very pleased with the level of service we received from Presbury & Company. The timing was very good and they kept to their word, whilst approving the various checks and proofs. The finished product is of an excellent quality and we are finding it very useful“.
